An original member of the alternative rock band Mazzy Star has died.

Keith Mitchell, who was the drummer on each of the group’s four albums, died Sunday, his band revealed.

A cause of death was not immediately announced.

"Our hearts are broken," a statement posted to the band’s Facebook page reads. "We have lost the much beloved Keith Mitchell, a very talented and amazing drummer that we have had the privilege to work with for many years, he will live in all of our hearts forever… We’ll miss you Big Fella."

Thomas Daily, Bishop Emeritus of Brooklyn, dies at 89

Mitchell previously drummed for a California rock group called Opal, which disbanded in 1989. Mazzy Star ultimately formed out of Opal, with Mitchell, guitarist David Roback and bassist Kendra Smith teaming up once again for the group in Santa Monica, Calif. later that year.

Mazzy Star released its first album "She Hangs Brightly" in 1990 and went on to release two more albums by 1996 before going on a hiatus. They returned to release their fourth album, "Seasons of Your Day," in 2013.

The band is best known for its 1994 hit “Fade Into You.”
